Tony Sole

Tony Sole (Ngāti Ruanui, Ngāruahine) has been an exploration geologist and a secondary school geography teacher, but since 1991 has worked almost exclusively on Treaty issues for a variety of organisations.

In 1992 he helped research the Ngāti Ruanui Treaty claim and presented evidence to the Waitangi Tribunal in 1995. After the release of the Waitangi Tribunal Taranaki Report, Tony helped establish the Ngāti Ruanui Muru me te Raupatu Working Party that went on to negotiate a settlement with the Crown.
