Shilo Kino

Shilo Kino

Shilo Kino (Ngā Puhi, Ngāti Maniapoto) is an award-winning writer and journalist. The Pōrangi Boy is her first book and was the winner of the Young Adult Fiction Award at the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults in 2021. Shilo has written for Newsroom, NZ Herald, The Spinoff, The Pantograph Punch, The Guardian and North and South,and she previously worked on the current affairs show Marae. She is passionate about te ao Māori and also speaks fluent Mandarin.
