Hilary and John Mitchell are partners in Mitchell Research, Nelson, established in 1985.
Hilary Mitchell has a degree in English and French and a Diploma of Education from Massey University. Hilary has been a secondary school teacher and a Nelson city councillor, a trustee of the Tasman Bays Heritage Trust, and a council member of the Nelson-Marlborough Institute of Technology.
John Mitchell (Ngāti Tama, Te Atiawa, Taranaki, Ngāti Toa Rangātira) is tangāta whenua of Mōhua. He has lectured in psychology at the University of Canterbury and was School Director of the Cobham Outward Bound School in Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough. He has been a trustee of the Crown Forestry Rental Trust, Commissioner of the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission and represented Māori interests on a number of other national bodies.
