Mark Lawrence
Mark Lawrence (Te Rarawa) currently practices as a consultant psychiatrist for the Bay of Plenty District Health Board in Tauranga. His work includes in patient, community and crisis care with adults, using an integrated model of care with both kaupapa Māori and mainstream services. A previous recipient of Te Rau Matatini’s Henry Rongomau Bennett Memorial Scholarship (to build leadership in Māori mental health), and, proudly, the ninth Māori Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Fellow, Mark is keen to continue supporting the development of Māori doctors. He is a member of Te ORA (the Māori Medical Practitioners Association), and at their recent Hui-ā-Tau, he presented his research findings outlining the benefits of dental intervention on tangata whaiora mental well-being. Mark is currently the RANZCP New Zealand National Committee chair.
