Patricia Grace (Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Ngāti Raukawa, Te Ātiawa) is the author of many well-loved and award-winning novels, short stories and children’s books. She has won numerous awards including the Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Prize for Fiction for her bookDogside Story, the Nielsen Bookdata New Zealand Bookseller’s Choice Award forTū, and was the 2008 laureate of the Neustadt International Prize for Literature. She has also been long-listed for the Booker Prize.
Patricia received a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to literature in 2007 and was the Honoured New Zealand Writer at Auckland Writer’s Festival in 2014.
Patricia's most current work is a children’s book retelling the origins of the Ngāti Toa haka ‘Ka Mate’, Hakaand the Māori language version Whiti te Ra!
