Rachel Buchanan
Rachel Buchanan BA (Hons), LLB is a lecturer in Media Studies at La Trobe
University in Melbourne, Australia and prior to this, she was a contributor for
Melbourne’s The Age newspaper. She’s a widely published journalist, historian
and essay and short story writer in both New Zealand and Australia. Rachel grew
up in Taranaki, where the invasion of Parikaha occurred, and completed her PhD
on Parihaka. Years later, she attended an art show at City Gallery in Wellington in
2000–2001 and was inspired to write this historical memoir.
