Raru

This is a chapter book about twelve-year-old twins and their dog, Raru. While playing in the carwreckers, Raru finds a kotiate among the car wrecks. The twins are in a dilemma about whether to keep it for themselves or find out who the actual owner is. They decide to think about it overnight and leave it hidden under the carpet in one of the cars. However, this may not have been the right decision. They later find out that the kotiate they found was stolen and a kaitiaki is attached to it. There is a word of caution to the one who has the kotiate, where a mākutu will be placed on them. Strange things start to occur, and the twins think these are related to the kotiate. This book supports learning at levels 1 and 2 of the Te Reo Māori and Tikanga-ā-iwi curriculum.

He pukapuka tēnei e kōrero ana mō ngā māhanga me tā rāua kurī, a Raru. I a rātou e tākaro ana i te urupā o ngā waka pakaru, ka kitea e Raru tētahi kotiate i waenga i ngā waka pakaru.
