Matariki is one of our Publishing Editors, though if you asked her to sum up what she does in one word, she’d probably say reading, or better yet, hāpai. Her role is all about uplifting our authors, illustrators and creatives so their stories shine for their whānau, hapū and iwi. After seven years in Melbourne, Matariki felt the pull to come home, bringing with her a deep belief in the mana of our people and the value of our stories. Having once interned at HUIA ‘a (very) long time ago’, she describes returning as a true homecoming.
