Chantal Spitz

Chantal Spitz is a prominent Tahitian author who has written a range of poems, essays, and novels – all with a focus on the voice of the Indigenous citizen. Chantal was a founding member of the Tahitian literary magazine Littérama’ohi, which goals were to expose the richness and variety of authors of French Polynesia.

The Island of Shattered Dreams was the first novel written by an indigenous Tahitian writer. This version has been translated into English by Jean Anderson.
