Te Kura i Monoa is a graphic novella aimed at ākonga in years 4−8, in English medium and Māori medium schooling. The story is about Ngāti Kahungunu tipuna Taraia and his daughter, Te Raupare.

HUIA collaborated with local iwi representatives to develop a storyline that each whānau member was able to contribute towards. At the workshop, whānau recounted their versions of the story of Taraia and Te Raupare and a finalised script was created, aiming to balance the differing accounts and aspirations of the rōpū.
