Te Kura i Monoa/The Treasured Plume

This pūrākau and the events it portrays was the catalyst for a series of significant events that shaped the political and historical landscape of Ngāti Kahungunu.

HUIA collaborated with local iwi representatives to develop a storyline that each whānau member was able to contribute towards. At the workshop, whānau recounted their versions of the story of Taraia and Te Raupare and a finalised script was created, aiming to balance the differing accounts and aspirations of the rōpū.
